Wireless Technology is giving organisations a greater range of freedom in how they deploy key ICT resources both in-house and in the field. As these technologies are increasingly adapted by companies, there is a growing need for skilled wireless LAN support specialists who know how to install, configure and troubleshoot wireless products and local area networks.
This skilled position within the organisation requires individuals who are technically competent in general networking principles and also in specific wireless LAN skills plus associated management skills.
The Scottish Academy has been set up as a National Centre to meet this need for individuals and organisations operating within the Scottish business community.
Participants work towards the Cisco Wireless LAN Support Specialist (WLAN) designation together with the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Introductory Diploma in Management which includes a work based practical project.
For many companies (especially SMEs) the Scottish Academy is offering this innovative work based training FREE of charge this year.
What does the training entail?
The Wireless Support Specialists training programme consists of a blended mix of day release and online course material augmented by a mentored work based project. Training is delivered by qualified tutors using Cisco VLE, Microsoft and ILM approved curriculum materials as appropriate.
The day release practical sessions are organised over 20 week cycles with access to supporting online learning materials throughout.
The Wireless Support Specialists training programme is built around the following content:
